SUMMARY
This position is responsible for general equipment maintenance and electrical and instrumentation work as well as for the general installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment at the Ross ISR facility including the CPP and ISR well fields. Under general supervision, this includes designing, installing, constructing, modifying, repairing and maintenance of mechanical, pumping, and electrical equipment and systems. It also includes installing downhole and surface pumps, constructing, modifying, and repairing steel, PVC and HDPE piping systems and the general maintenance of small vehicles, compressors, and other site equipment. A strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance is required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Plan the layout of electrical systems including PLC/DCS systems and instrumentation.
  • Install and inspect electrical systems for compliance with applicable codes and OSHA requirements.
  • Wire downhole pumps and motors, process pumps, automated valves, header houses, and other electrical applications, including MCCs, instrumentation, low voltage, etc.
  • Build and construct PLC panels and electrical systems with low voltage to 480 volt systems. Single and Three phase systems
  • Diagnose malfunctions in electrical systems using test equipment and hand tools and repair the problems.
  • Program PLCs, VFDs, MCCs and other automated equipment utilized in the day-to-day operations at Strata Energy’s Ross site.
  • Troubleshoot and program instruments and hardware in the operations system.
  • Test electrical systems to ensure their availability.
  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment for compliance with applicable codes and OSHA requirements. This includes but is not limited to, piping systems, small vehicles, compressors, generators, cementers, swabbing equipment, and pulling units.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in piping and valve systems and repair the problems using the proper equipment.
  • Conduct pressure testing of piping systems when required.
  • Conduct required equipment and safety inspections and maintain required written records.
  • Operate a pickup-type vehicle and bucket truck on company premises.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for this position an individual must be knowledgeable and have experience in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, PLC/DCS systems and instrumentation. The individual must meet the qualifications of a Journeyman Electrician, or greater.

In addition, an individual must be knowledgeable and have experience in the maintenance and construction of piping systems and the operation and maintenance of various types of mobile equipment used at uranium ISR facilities.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the company.
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with supervisor, other operators, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to read and write and perform basic math including multiplication and division, and operate computerized plant operating system with moderate complexity.
  • Install and inspect electrical systems for compliance with applicable codes and OSHA requirements.
  • Wire wellfield module buildings, production wells, process pumps and automated valves, and other electrical applications, including MCC’s, instrumentation, low voltage etc.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in electrical systems using test equipment and hand tools and repair the problem.
  • Test electrical systems to ensure their availability.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in mobile equipment, piping systems and mechanical equipment and repair the problem.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, PLC/DCS systems and instrumentation.
  • The individual must meet the qualifications of a Journeyman Electrician, or greater.
  • Experience using a computer-based industrial plant operations system and calibrating and testing equipment (such as Siemens, Rockwell, and Allen-Bradley equipment/systems).
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of mobile equipment, piping systems, and mechanical equipment used at uranium ISR facilities, surface mining operations, water treatment plants, O&G operations, or other industrial facilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, company procedures, and memos.
  • Ability to write and maintain records.
  • Ability to deal with vendors in the specification and ordering of required supplies.

MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to use basic computer word processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. Word, Excel,).
  • Ability to effectively use a computer-based industrial plant operations system.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid class “C” driver’s license is required.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards typically associated with a uranium ISR plant facility which include the presence of low levels of radioactive materials and radiation, low to moderate noises levels, moving equipment, slips on wet surfaces, and trips related to uneven ground and facility equipment. The employee is also exposed to electrical hazards and arc flash. The work environment is typically outdoors. Therefore, the employee may routinely be exposed to inclement weather including cold, hot, snow, rain, mud, etc.
