Full Time, Hourly, 12-Hour Shift
Roster is based on 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off basis with one 12-hour dayshift per day.
Position Description:
- Assist the Driller with the safe and efficient operation of an in-house drill rig used to construct ISR wells at an in-situ recovery operation.
- Support drilling activities including rig setup, handling tools and materials, casing assistance, well development support, airlifting assistance, and drill site preparation and cleanup.
- Help maintain field records, inspect and care for drilling equipment, and keep the rig, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
- Work closely with the Driller, supervisors, and other site personnel to complete drilling activities safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and operational requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Driller with daily operation of the company’s in-house drill rigs, including a Geoprobe DM650 or similar unit, used to drill ISR production, injection, monitoring, delineation, and exploration wells.
- Help set up, inspect, rig down, and move drilling equipment, tooling, pumps, compressors, and support equipment for daily operations.
- Handle drill pipe, casing, muds, polymers, fuel, and other drilling consumables safely and efficiently under the direction of the Driller.
- Support casing installation, well development, airlifting, jetting, and other tasks required to complete ISR wells.
- Perform routine housekeeping, site cleanup, and reclamation tasks associated with drilling operations.
- Conduct pre-start inspections, assist with hazard assessments, and promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment concerns.
- Assist with routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on the drill rig and associated support equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily records, assist with drilling logs, and complete other required documentation as directed.
- Follow instructions from the Driller and supervisors to support drilling activities in accordance with approved procedures, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
- Contribute to a strong safety, environmental, and teamwork culture while working effectively with supervisors, geologists, and other site personnel.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or drilling-related certifications are an advantage but not essential.
- Previous experience in drilling, water wells, ISR wellfield operations, mining, construction, laboring, or other heavy industrial field work is preferred but not required.
- On-site training can be provided for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic, the ability to perform physical labor safely, and a willingness to learn drilling operations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely handle tools, drill pipe, casing, fuel, muds, polymers, and other drilling consumables are desirable.
- Ability to follow directions, work safely, learn drilling procedures, and support equipment care and routine maintenance activities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the company preferred; CDL or other endorsements are an advantage where required.
- Ability to read and follow procedures, safety documentation, and complete basic written records and reports.
- Understanding of safe work practices, including hazard identification, equipment inspections, and general industrial safety requirements, is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, perform physical labor, and communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift 25-100 pounds repeatedly.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards typically associated with a uranium ISR facility which includes the presence of low levels of radioactive materials and radiation, low to moderate noises levels, moving equipment, wet surfaces, uneven ground and facility equipment. The work is generally outdoors, and the employee can be exposed to inclement weather including cold, hot, snow, rain, mud etc.
