Strata Energy Awards 2019 Scholarships to Crook County Graduates
Strata Energy, Inc. is pleased to announce the award of two scholarships to Crook County high school graduates.
Tracen Mills is the sixth Crook County student to be awarded Strata’s Community Energy Scholarship. This scholarship provides eligible recipients with $2,000 per academic year for up to four years of academic study geared toward careers in the mineral industry and related fields.
Tracen is a well-rounded student who excelled in music, athletics, and academics throughout his Hulett High School career. As an amateur blacksmith, he built a power hammer that won a state agricultural mechanics contest. His mechanical capabilities served him well in rebuilding a classic tractor that has been in his family for four generations. Not surprisingly, Tracen is headed to the University of Wyoming this fall to study mechanical engineering.
Strata will award the Community Energy scholarship to one new recipient per year, ramping up to an ongoing commitment to help up to four students at any given time in realizing academic success.
Emma Jay has been selected as the 2019 recipient of Strata’s new Opportunity Scholarship, a $500 award for general education and trade programs. Emma will be studying agricultural science at Casper College this fall.
Emma graduated from Hulett High School as class Valedictorian with a 3.98 GPA, in addition to 27 college credits. Her academic performance led to a nomination to attend Wyoming Girls State in Cheyenne.
Emma also excelled in music and athletics, and was very involved in her local FFA chapter. We first met Emma in 2016, when we helped to support her trip to the Rose Bowl Parade as a member of the Wyoming All-State Marching Band.
Strata will begin accepting scholarship applications for the 2020 awards in April 2020. Strata would like to thank all students who submitted applications for this year’s award.
